valQ Power BI Quick Start: 5-Day Implementation

Visual BI Solutions

The valQ Quick Start offering enables both business analysts and data engineering teams to create intuitive and powerful valQ for Microsoft Power BI reports.

This five-day offering provides hands-on readiness from Visual BI experts who will assist in the modeling and implementation of a valQ for Power BI solution.

Day 1

Visual BI Solutions will deliver training for valQ basics and advanced topics as follows:

  • Introduction to valQ
  • Walkthrough of use cases for valQ
  • Review basic functionality and navigation
  • Demonstration of building a simple model from scratch
  • Build an advanced model from scratch
  • Model sourcing across Dynamics 365, Excel template, and Tree Editor
  • Migrate models across Power BI reporting instances
  • Demonstrate advanced features (Fiscal year, UX Settings)
  • Advanced modeling including ternary function

Day 2

Visual BI Solutions will work closely with the data engineering team to prepare data for valQ. Activities include:

  • Define use case for valQ implementation
  • Review business requirements and firm up scope for implementing timeboxed valQ value driver tree
  • Analyze in-scope source Power BI datasets
  • Develop transformation logic to prepare data model underlying valQ visualization

Days 3, 4 and 5

Visual BI Solutions will assist in building the first valQ model with the following activities:

  • Define forecast versus budget metrics
  • Define key performance indicators (KPIs) and constraints across the model
  • Model relationships and dependencies among tree nodes
  • Build tree structure to represent model requirements
  • Implement custom formulas and required aggregations across
  • Define and build sample simulations for validation
  • Deploy to Power BI Service tenant for sharing with business analysts
  • Operational knowledge transfer for valQ Solutions
  • Review and oversee validation of valQ model across KPIs, constraints, and simulations
  • Model and build new simulations
  • Open Q&A and wrap-up
