Overview

Smarter Timesheet is a lightweight, SharePoint-native time tracking solution. Install the app, add the web part to any page, and start logging time within minutes—no external services required. A unique feature, Extended Hours, lets you capture the difference between planned and actual work (whether faster or slower than estimated), making project billing and fixed-scope contracts more transparent. Available in English and German.

Getting started

  1. Click the Get it now button above. SharePoint administrators can install Smarter Timesheet immediately; other users send an approval request to their organization’s SharePoint admin.
  2. In SharePoint, add the Smarter Timesheet app to the site where you want to track time (Site contents > New > App > From your organization > Smarter Timesheet). Using Microsoft Teams? Add it to the SharePoint site behind your Team.
  3. Edit a page (for example, Home) and add the Smarter Timesheet web part (+ Add web part > search “Smarter Timesheet”). When the page loads, auto-provisioning creates all required lists.
  4. Use Admin Settings (Owners group) to adjust work days, weekly hours, and behavior for your team.
  5. Click Add Entry to record time. Need a new project? Choose + New Project in the project picker to create it inline.

Requirements

  • Microsoft 365 tenant with SharePoint Online.
  • Who can install: SharePoint admins (or site owners after admin approval).
  • Who can use: Owners configure settings; Members log time.

Data & privacy

All data is stored within your company’s SharePoint site. No external storage or third-party services are used.
