ScaleOut Digital Twins™ software gives your Azure IoT applications powerful new capabilities for real-time device tracking, analytics, and simulation made possible by combining the digital twin model with in-memory computing technology. It runs in the Azure cloud alongside other Azure IoT services or on-premises and can optionally integrate with Azure Digital Twins to seamlessly add real-time analytics.
By individually tracking incoming telemetry from each of your assets with dynamic, contextual information, ScaleOut Digital Twins can create alerts in milliseconds and continuously chart aggregated results to provide insights that boost your situational awareness. You can also incorporate machine learning using Microsoft’s ML.NET library (no coding required!) to analyze telemetry for anomalies and immediately signal alerts. Integrated generative AI lets you generate charts and queries using natural language prompts.
Unlike other streaming analytics products, which just examine incoming data streams from your data sources, this breakthrough service focuses on analyzing the dynamic state of each data source. This unique approach unlocks high-value use cases for systems with thousands or even millions of data sources. Applications include IoT device-tracking, predictive maintenance, safety and security monitoring, logistics tracking, shopping recommendations, transportation, telecommunications, manufacturing, and more.
How Do I Use ScaleOut Digital Twins?
Building and deploying a real-time analytics application is easy:
- Using the ScaleOut Model Development Tool™, just pick the data properties you need to track for each data source and define per-device analytics using simple business rules and/or machine learning. You can also develop digital twin models in C# or Java using open-source APIs and test workbench.
- Next, deploy your digital twin model(s) to ScaleOut Digital Twins using an intuitive UI, link to your Azure IoT Hub account or other message source, and start analyzing incoming messages. You can also run digital twins in simulation to test their behavior or to model complex systems.
- Create charts and queries using generative AI within the UI to visualize trends and drill down into data collected by digital twins.

You can optionally add fast, scalable, real-time analytics powered by ScaleOut’s in-memory computing technology to Azure Digital Twins. This gives Azure Digital Twins the ability to analyze incoming telemetry in milliseconds as well as new capabilities for continuous data aggregation, continuous query, and geospatial visualization. It also simplifies your applications by eliminating the need for serverless functions to process incoming messages and update properties in Azure Digital Twins.
