Power BI Governance: 10-Day Assessment

The assessment will determine how to successfully deploy self-service Power BI based on Microsoft best practices from the Power BI Adoption Roadmap, Power BI Adoption Framework and the Power BI enterprise deployment whitepapers. The goal of the assessment is to simplify the large and complex topic of Power BI Governance and to recommend clear and easy next steps divided in phases for the customer to execute. During the assessment we will conduct interviews and technical reviews with the customer and gather information about:

Governance: Understand the current state, governance considerations and requirements, governance model, available data sources (On-Prem and Cloud) and workspace management. Service Management: Identify the current licensing needs, how groups are managed, tenant administration, client and mobile management and the need for Power BI Premium functionality. Security: Understand how the Identity is managed, access control, connectivity, available data protection options like sensitivity labels, sharing requirements, and the need for risk assessments.

Support and rollout: Understand the current support scenarios, training requirements, communication, ways of working and the need for a center of excellence. The details of findings from the interviews and the technical reviews will be documented in an initial adoption plan strategy document and a high-level next step plan in a governance assessment results presentation. An initial Responsibility assignment matrix (RACI) will also be created with recommended tasks based on the current state. Both the presentation and the RACI matrix will be presented in a workshop to all stakeholders at the end of the assessment. All the documents will be shared for review in good time before they are presented. The recommended strategy and next step are based on the information gathering and Ingraphic 5 years’ experience with Power BI Governance from similar customer journeys.
