This service will produce two outcomes: (1) a data dictionary of every entity/table and field from your legacy data source(s); and (2) a confident scope of work for the migration effort.

Your data is one of the most important assets of your organization. For this reason, we handle all data with careful consideration. Migrating from one or more sources of relational data requires analysis, mapping, planning, validation, and quality assurance. Our data diagnostic service is where our team becomes intimately familiar with your data so that we can plan for the conversion with confidence. This service will produce two outcomes: (1) a data dictionary of every entity/table and field from your legacy data source(s); and (2) a confident scope of work for the migration effort.

We start with a show and tell, where your identified data steward(s) and subject-matter experts provide a walkthrough of your existing CRM/Database to help orient us to the data we will be reviewing. This walkthrough helps us determine which data sets are valuable to evaluate, which are simply lookup tables and which data sets can safely be ignored.

Once we have completed the walkthrough and have been provided appropriate access to your data, we will create a data dictionary from the source database. This will not only capture the meta-data about the tables and fields, but usage as well. How many records have values in each field? How many records by table? What are some examples of each field, etc. This data dictionary will be an XLSX file that is a deliverable you can keep.

This dictionary will itemize every table/entity and column/field to help inform what data should be migrated. The data dictionary will also introduce questions that we will walk through with your team during our crosswalk efforts. The crosswalk will start by asking your team to determine what, if anything, can be ignored for the migration. These questions will inform our action plan.
