Automatically create SKUs and transfer routes for warehouses using inventory templates
It can be quite challenging if your organization has multiple warehouses and you have to manage them. You must use different SKUs for each item/variant/location combination and set them up manually. However, with the Inventory Templates application from Bluace, it becomes easy to manage these warehouses utilizing templates.
What is the Inventory Templates application?
Many technical trade organizations have a central warehouse and, for example, another fifty service vans that also store parts and materials. Mechanics need these parts every day to be able to carry out their activities. To ensure sufficient parts in the service vans and that the technicians can carry out their assignments, you should set a minimum number of parts for each van. Managing these warehouses with the standard functionalities can be challenging. You must set everything for each warehouse manually, even if something changes. Thanks to the Inventory Templates app, this is no longer the case. You can create templates, which you then can assign to each warehouse to which this applies. Using these templates saves time and makes it much easier to implement changes.
Functionalities of the Inventory Templates app
After downloading the Inventory Templates application, you can create the necessary templates. You can create templates for specific item groups, functions, tasks, resource groups, and more. Once the templates are ready, you assign one or more of these templates to a specific warehouse. Suppose you assign multiple templates to one warehouse. In that case, they are automatically combined. All quantities are compiled together if articles are present in several of these templates. Please note that this does not apply to the order quantity. The highest quantity is automatically used for the order quantity. Even if different templates are combined for the replenishment system or reordering policy, the application will not mix them. You must set one template that will be the default.
Once all settings are ready to go, the templates will synchronize. Now the SKUs and transfer routes are created. Each warehouse gets its own SKU for each item or variant unless an item is excluded for this. If one of the assigned supply templates have "transfer" as its replenishment system, transfer routes are also created between those locations.
The Inventory Templates app also has the option to create reports to detect whether there is excess stock in one of the warehouses. We speak of excess stock if the current supply exceeds the minimum required stock, minimum order quantity, and present demand. You can quickly recover a surplus by creating a transfer order in the app.
