The Environmental Labeling has been mandatory since January 1st, 2023: Art. 3 of d. lgs 116/ 2020. The new law encourages Italian producers and importers to choose digital channels.

The digital environmental labeling (EAD) by Giunko is a digital label that producers and importers can use to provide information about the product's packaging to consumers: its components, the materials it is made of, and how to dispose of it correctly.

How it works

The consumer can view the label either by scanning the product’s barcode with Junker, an app for waste sorting developed by Giunko, or with a specific QR code applied to the packaging. The result includes an information sheet with packaging disposal information based on geolocation, according to the rules for separate waste collection in the area the consumer lives. Thus, the Digital Environmental Label is a huge help for consumers to sort waste correctly and facilitate the collection, reuse, recovery, and recycle of products’ packaging.
