We can migrate user mailboxes from your source email system to Microsoft 365 using the Internet Message Access Protocol (IMAP) for email migration, focusing on emails and folders only.
Our objective is to efficiently plan, design, and execute G Suite to Microsoft 365 mailbox migration via the IMAP protocol, ensuring minimal downtime and data loss.
The migration project will be considered successful if all mailboxes are moved to Microsoft 365.
IT Partner responsibilities
- Verify G Suite information
- Configure the Microsoft 365 tenant
- Create and configure users, assign licenses
- Create and execute a migration plan
- Provide informational messages for users
- Initiate and oversee data migration
Client responsibilities
- Provide a dedicated point of contact
- Coordinate resources and schedules
- Review and approve deliverables
- Provide admin-level access to the source email system or user passwords
- Perform DNS changes as required
- Assist in identifying high-risk users
- Ensure IMAP Access is enabled for all users
Additional cost items not provided by the project
- Informing users about the migration
- Customer team training (could be added as an additional service)
- Migration of Corporate documents to SharePoint Online (could be added as an additional service)
- Desktop software settings
- Migration of anything except email and email folders
Upon project completion, we provide a closeout report indicating acceptance criteria, outstanding issues (if any), and the final budget. Additional documentation is available upon request.

Prerequisites
- Microsoft 365 tenant with Exchange Online licenses
- Access to your email domain DNS zone
- Admin access to G Suite
- Source must be a paid version of Google Drive
Limitations:
- Only items in user inboxes or mail folders are migrated
- Maximum of 500,000 items migrated per user
- Maximum email size for migration is 35 MB
- Regular Google apps or Gmail accounts require individual user credentials
- Google Labels are not transferred properly
