Improve customer convenience, drive staff efficiency and gain insights on store usage

Signify (formerly known as Philips Lighting) is the worlds leading lighting company with recognized expertise in the development, manufacturing and sale of innovative, energy-efficient lighting products, systems, and services. Our purpose is to unlock the extraordinary potential of light for brighter lives and a better world. We are a 6B EUR, 32.000 people company with offices in 74 markets. For more than 125 years we have pioneered breakthroughs in lighting and been the driving force for many innovations. Recently we introduced our Interact brand for lighting based IoT applications such as space management and indoor location services.

Interact (Retail) Indoor Navigation is a software service (iOS and Android SDK) that leverages Signify's connected LED lighting and Microsofts Azure Cloud services to provide hyper-accurate device location (geo-coordinates) to the retailers' mobile app. This allows the retailer to deliver location-based services such as wayfinding, product finding, location-relevant promotions or messaging into their apps that either run on the customer phones or on (Zebra) handscanners. Because the software uses location signals (Visible Light Communication and/or BLE) coming from lighting fixtures, customers do not need to install any additional hardware other than the LED lights that they likely plan to install anyway for the purpose of energy-savings.

Target users are retailers operating large (>1.000m2) retail formats (in Grocery/Food, DIY, Electronics, Sports) that want to deploy in-store location based services to;
- enhance the in-store shopping experience via mobile/digital services;
- engage with shoppers in-store in a more personal and relevant way;
- drive store/staff effectiveness and efficiency;
- gain better insight in in-store shopping behavior.
These customers need a reliable, accurate, affordable and scalable indoor location solution.
Decision makers are: (1) Format (innovation) managers; (2) Digital Marketing; (3) Facility/Energy management; (4) CIO.

Challenged by online retail, retailers that operate physical stores want to provide better and personalized customer service while reducing operational costs. In-store location-based services, focused on both enhancing the shopping experience as well as improving staff efficiency hold that promise however require an indoor location system, leveraging the accurate in-store position of the shopper or staff member. Considering and/or deploying these indoor location systems, retailers find that they are either not accurate enough to be effective or present them with high initial and/or maintenance costs.
