Where AI is used in Belt
Belt uses AI for
- Email triage and labelling (detecting requests, key senders, follow-ups, unsolicited items)
- Task creation from email (suggesting titles and descriptions)
- Summaries (for emails, threads, attachments)
- Ask AI: drafting emails (proposed drafts and replies with context)
- Ask AI: summarizing in context (email, reports, projects, etc.)
Review required: AI-generated content can be incomplete or inaccurate. Always review, edit, and approve before sending or relying on it. Your organization controls AI settings and available providers.

Report issues or objectionable AI content
In the app, click on the top-right → Create a Ticket, from any page. These reports are handled with High Priority by our team.
Privacy & Providers
Belt may use a combination of local models and approved third-party AI providers, based on your tenant settings and data governance.
Your data stays safe with Belt:
- SOC 2 compliant and regularly pen-tested for security.
- Each tenant’s data is fully isolated — no shared environments.
- All data is encrypted in transit and at rest.
- PII is anonymized before reaching any LLM. You can also bring your own LLM.
- You’re in control — revoke mailbox or calendar access anytime.
Permissions
The Microsoft Teams App will have permission to:
- Receive the contents, and information such as date, subject, and sender, of my emails.
- Access my profile information such as my name, email address, company name, and preferred language.
- Access my contacts.
- Process the data I send to it in an anonymized form.
