docq VIT is the first easy-to-use software for digital verification of patient-specific implants.

Our goal with docq VIT was to meet new regulatory requirements for custom implants and to establish a universal framework for the verification of patient-specific implant designs based on validated biomechanical simulation models that can be used by everyone – that means no computer-aided engineering skills are needed.

The software docq VIT (Virtual Implant Testing) was developed to provide a tool for assessment of mechanical stability of custom implants. The assessment is based on performing a fully automated numerical analysis of the interaction of the implant with the patient-specific anatomical model. The finite element method is used to predict deformations, mechanical stresses, and strains under applied load.

docq VIT is the first easy-to-use software for digital verification of patient-specific implants. By virtually applying physiological or standardized loads to a patient-specific situation, the performance and safety of implants can be verified quickly and efficiently based on objective criteria.

The designer can easily set up highly complex biomechanical simulations within minutes. The actual simulation takes place in the background via direct connection to a cloud-based ANSYS calculation environment or alternatively customer-owned infrastructures.

The simulation results are visualized in the form of a comparison of different restorations for the patient in docq and allow the selection of the optimal implant design in combination with maximum safety and strength. Due to the standardized workflows, we can generate an automated simulation report and a technical documentation based on FDA guidelines.

The report can be used for post market surveillance process and the customer's quality management system.
